Inside the Workshop - Our Containers

We use amber PET bottles for our handmade liquid wash. Why did we choose this container?

PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate and is commonly used to package beverages, food items, and other consumer products. We like PET because it’s safe and durable. It has high impact resistance, meaning that if you drop the bottle in the shower or on the tile floor it won’t shatter and break. It’s also lightweight, and so for our lovely customers that equals lower shipping costs. It’s also recyclable!

What is the significance of the amber color? Well, ultraviolet rays can break down molecules and cause degradation of certain components of essential oils and base oils used in soap making. Some ingredients are sensitive to this photo-oxidation and will result in decreased shelf life. The amber brown color helps maintain the integrity of the bottle’s contents.

In a nutshell, amber bottles help keep you and your product safe and fresh.
