Meet the Maker

My start down the path of natural skin care began with an unlikely source. Craving a life of sustainability I sought to learn aspects of homesteading like gardening, canning, and knitting. While helping my husband butcher a steer I eased my conscience over what would have otherwise been an epic waste of beef tallow by taking up soap making.  I soon found that my passion for plants was influencing my handmade apothecary creations. Batch upon batch was inspired by local flora and culture. Wild rose petals hand harvested in the Cascade foothills, Western Juniper berries picked in Oregon, Lavender farmed in Washington’s Olympic Peninsula all fed my vision for new creations.

In 2009 I founded Mountain Girl Soap.  My journey into the world of natural body care led me to become an HSCG Certified Master Soap Maker and a Certified Aromatherapist. My passion for both plant-based skin care and Pacific Northwest culture has allowed me to follow my dream, traveling the Northwest and meeting and working with some amazing farmers and maker-businesses. Outside the workshop, you can find me pursuing my other loves: good coffee, wood-fired pizza, vacationing in Hawaii, my family and dogs.
