My soap making classes are designed to teach students to make soap from scratch at home as a hobby. I'll set you up for success and you'll have fun while learning completely hands-on.


The Art of Cold Processed Soap Making

Date: December 2, 2017            3-hour class: 9am – 12pm

Location: Redding School of the Arts, 955 Inspiration Way, Redding, CA 96003

Class Fee: $79 + Materials Fee: $20 = Total: $99. Includes a soap mold, 2 lb bottle of sodium hydroxide, raw materials to make soap, consumable supplies, and handouts.

Class size: Six (6) students are ideal, but class size can be between 4-8 students. The class size is small to maximize personal attention to each student. My goal is to ensure students are able to successfully continue their new skill at home. Class is for students aged 18+ years.

Description: This is a beginning-level soap making class designed to teach students to make soap from scratch at home as a hobby. Have fun while learning completely hands-on. The objective is to have students understand saponification values and be comfortable calculating and formulating their own soap recipes at home. Students make cold process soap during the class session and get to take it home. Students also take home a soap mold, a 2lb bottle of sodium hydroxide and handouts. The handouts include step-by-step instruction, resources and recipes to help you continue at home.

Topics include: Safety, Equipment & Supplies, Saponification Values, Oil Properties, Scenting, Coloring, Recipe Formulation, Molds, Cutting and Curing, supplier links, Troubleshooting.

Bring to class: Calculator, pen/pencil and safety goggles, wear a long sleeve shirt, close toe shoes, and clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
