What are essential oils and hydrosols? Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic extracts that are distilled from a variety of aromatic plant material, including flowers, leaves, needles and twigs, resins, roots, seeds, and woods. Essential oils are made by distillation with either water or steam. These extracts are separated from the water phase. Hydrosol, also known as distillate or floral water is a co-product of the essential oil distillation process and contains all of the water soluble components of the plant's essence.
What does artisan mean? Products created in an artisan manner are made by a skilled craftsperson using traditional methods and high-quality materials. Think of it as the direct opposite of factory-made.
How does your process work? We start with the highest quality plants handpicked at their peak of freshness. Then, using a traditional copper alembic still we produce both essential oil and hydrosol. Our still is a thing of beauty, hand-hammered and imported from Portugal, and produces the sweetest hydrosols. See our video below or click here.
What do you do with hydrosol? We use hydrosols in place of water in our soap making, and other formulations. They can also be used straight on the skin.
How can I use hydrosol? They have many uses, here are just some:
We have four hydrosols available at this time. They were extracted in March and April of this year, 2020. The botanicals were planted, grown, harvested and extracted right here on our property in Oak Run, California, by our own hands. From us to you.
